Field notes
Which efficiency numbers belong on the weekly pack
Weekly packs fail when every available column from the application dump is pasted into a slide. Managers skim; the real stall points hide in the middle tabs.
Start with three questions only:
- Where did work wait longer this week than last week?
- Which exceptions forced a human restart?
- Which queues grew while headcount stayed flat?
If a figure cannot answer one of those, keep it in the archive extract, not the pack. Incident pattern notes belong in a short appendix: count of repeats with the same recovery path, not a full ticket dump.
For back-office applications that span finance, HR administration, and logistics clerks, prefer measures that travel across departments — aging open items, reopen rate, and handoff delay between roles — over department-specific vanity totals.
